Shawna Lane and Celeste Hoyer captured
the singles championships, while Barb Lankford and Tina Berard
took home all-events titles as the Great Falls Women's Bowling
Association wrapped up its annual tournament last Sunday at Pin
& Cue. Lane fired a 704 with handicap to beat Kathy Hill, who had a 691, in Division I. Hoyer, out of Belt, registered a 725 to Nadine Symons' 717 in Division II. Lankford, who also won the doubles with Doris Kimmerle, totaled 1,976 for the nine games to edge out Mary Anderson, who had a 1,955 pin fall. Berard, also out of Belt, shot a 2,099 for the Division II all-events title. In team action, Friday Nite Fallout, with Emma Pengilly, Stretch Richards, Mary Anderson and Tamita Kea, won the Division I title with a 2,635. In Division II, Apollo Lounge, which included Peggy and Misty Bowles, Britanee Springer and Cassie Richarson, and Belt's Turkey Hunters, with Sandy Francom, Vickie Snyder Kristie Schwantes and Linda Lewis, tied for Division II honors with identical 2,631 scores. Lankford and Kimmerle's total of 1,317 bested the longtime doubles duo of Georgia Beaulieu and Anderson, who had a 1,288. Berard added a doubles title to her all-events, teaming with Shannon Osterman to win Division II, with a 1,439. Richardson and Peggy Bowles were second with a 1,389. The tourney, which ran two weekends, drew 42 teams, 65 doubles and 130 singles entries. With the city tournament out of the way, the association now readies for the upcoming 2005 Montana State Women's Tournament, which opens in April. Here are the top 3 in each event: Team Division I— 1. Friday Nite Fallout (Emma Pengilly, Stretch Richards, Mary Anderson, Tamita Kea) 2,635. 2. Little's Lanes, 2,402. 3. The Ronan duo of Jake Welker and Pat Reagan dominated the Bozeman portion of the Wild Turkey State Tournament at Country Lanes with a 1,942 total to win a trip to the national tournament in Las Vegas. Welker and Reagan, who had a 1,706 scratch, beat Bozeman's Brenda and Travis Morris, who totaled 1,839. Welker and Reagan are one of two doubles teams who will win berths into Aug. 9's national tournament at Sam's Town in Las Vegas. Other cashiers in Bozeman were J.D. Jorgenson and Mark Bennett of Missoula, who finished third with a 1,810. Kathy Neustrom and Ruby Ford, both of Bozeman, took fourth with a 1,789. Bozeman's Sing Boast and Denise Wermers pocketed fifth-place money with a 1,776. The other national berth will be filled this weekend in a second state tournament, which will be held at Little's Lanes in Great Falls.
Kristen Egan gave Doris Kimmerle's high-season mark of 748 a scare last Wednesday putting together games of 244, 276 and 226 for a big 746 series in the MixMasters at Little's to lead the women. Other series of note included a 733 by Mike Carrethers in the 725 Classified, which led the men at Little's. At Pin & Cue, Mike Bowles had a devil of a time last Monday shooting a 666 three-game set and an 894 four-game series in the 535 Scratch League. Nobi Sirucek was high for the women with a 614, which included a 254 game. Also deserving mention is Kelsey Klundt, who for two straight weeks recorded the first 10 strikes to turn in games of 288 and 289. Murph's marks this week included Jeff Dennen's 689 series and 263 game and Laura Manzer's 215 game. Leading the way at Black Eagle were Stretch Richards, who strung together games of 201 and 201 for a 570 in the Friday Fallouts. Mason Walker's 205 and 533 topped the men in a low-scoring week. Finally, Norma at Pin & Cue wants to remind bowlers of the spring meeting, which will be held Tuesday, April 26, at 7 p.m. Here are the rest of last week's honor scores: Pin & Cue Women's scores 535 Scratch — Della Johnson 211, Nobi Sirucek 206-244-614, Chris Dittus 202-215 Morning Glories — Karen Arps 246 Wednesday Mixed — Chris Dittus 203 Thursday Leftovers — Mary Orham 214 Sunday Mixed — Denise Curtis 204 Men's scores Sunday Nite Mixed — Don White 243, Dale Specht 245, Dale Sirucek 215(sr.) 535 Scratch — Bob Orham 232-664, Rock Rayl 235, Mike Bowles 235-228-228-666-894(4), Joe Skaggs 236, Rick Heck 239, George Levandowski 224, Bob Olson 230 Wednesday Mixed — Kelsey Klundt 236, John Ferda 234, Dave Gifford 229-266-670 Friday Nite Mixed — Randy Morgan 244, Hans Schell 257, Bill Sybrant 216(sr.), Martin Tries 202(sr.
