1-30-2007 Winners emerge from two-week City Tournament
Jeff Dennen, Bret Vaskey and Roy Henley captured singles' crowns
as the first Great Falls USBCA Open Championships wrapped up
Sunday afternoon at Murph's and Black Eagle Lanes.
Dennen overtook Lucas Cyr to win the A Division with a 767
total. Vaskey's 736, shot the first week, held on in Division 2
and Roy Hensley fired a 723 to win the Division 3 crown.
For two weeks, bowlers battled the tough but fair conditions at
both houses, with Murph's playing host to the doubles and
singles and Black Eagle Lanes serving as the team venue.
In the doubles, Ron Simonsen and
Tim Preston took advantage of their home lanes to post a 1,422
to win Division A. Tracy Rigor and Burt Tschetter combined for a
1,452 to claim the Division 2 trophy, and Don Broughton and Ken
Huston posted a 1,420 the second weekend to win Division 3. TJ's Lounge, with Marty Graham, Rusty Kraenzel Jr. Russ Kraenzel, Jerry Brown and Shane Brown posted a 3,253 to capture the Division 1 team event.
In Division 2, G,V & F CPA's, which included Shawn Olsen, Marty
Graham. Rich Beyer, Jerry Brown and Rusty Kraenzel, won the top
spot with a first-week 3,274.
Black Diamond Bar, out of Belt, with Neill Sweeney, Bret Vaskey,
Larry Howes, Wayne Francom and Charlie Lindeman, held on to the
top with a 3,325.
Graham, Kraenzel Jr. and Jerry Brown accomplished a rare feat —
being members of two winning teams.
All-Event scratch champions were Jerry Wagner, 1,796; Tom
Croskrey, 1,697; and Dan Woodcock, 1,627.
Handicap winners were Burt Tschetter, 2,035; Croskrey, 2,111 and
Ken Huston, 2,121.
Dennen won the scratch singles event with a 668. Tom Brendgord
and Duane Zeier were the scratch doubles winners with a 1,327.
