In the team event, JELB, which included Lynn and Ed Vogl, Bert Lamphear and Jim Rasmussen, combined to shoot a 2,541 to take the early lead. The Lewistown quartet is followed by Lewistown's Lucky Strikers, who totaled 2,484. Three more weekends are left in the tourney, which includes mixed doubles and mixed team events (two men, two women). Entries will be accepted until Nov. 12. Phone Rex Coleman at 535-3473. ******************** Upcoming this weekend at Pin & Cue will be the $500-added Great Falls City Mixed Championships, which begin two weekends of action Saturday. The tourney, which is comprised of a two-men, two women team event as well as a mixed doubles, is in its 21st year in Great Falls. Entry fee is $17.50 per person per event with many opportunities to re-enter. Entry forms are available at all of the city's houses or online at http://musbc.com/gfusbca. If you have never visited the association's website, this would be a great opportunity. You might find something you like. ******************** In other tourney news, the Classic 50's Ladies Scratch Tournament, set for Little's Lanes on Nov. 4-5, has announced that the added money is now at $2,100, which will be paid out of the prize fund. Qualifying shifts are at 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 4, followed by match play and finals on Nov. 5. Entry fee is $80 and phone Little's, 452-4116, for more information. The first 24 paid entries are eligible for a drawing for a new reactive bowling ball. In league action last week, no 300s but Ron Corkin just missed the magic mark leaving the 6-10 spare for a 298 game after stringing out the first 11 in Little's Straight-A-Way League on Friday night. Jim Esther led the week with a nice 761 set, which included games of 248, 268 and 245. Esther was bowling in the MixMasters at Little's. Right behind Esther was Donnie Zuhoski, who broke out of an early season slump with a 758, coming on consistent efforts of 253, 246 and 255. Shawna Lane, fresh off her traveling league victory, set the pace for the women with a 696 set, putting together games of 226, 247 and 223, also in the MixMasters. At the Elks, Rex Tanberg earned men's honors with a 668 set, featuring a 268 game, in the Tuesday Men's League. Lauretta Gifford topped the women with a 602 set, 104 total pins over her average, on games of 236 and 205. Chris Dittus and Mike Baumgartner eared Pin & Cue honors. Dittus rolled a 236 game and 589 series, while Baumgartner tallied a 228 game and 587 series. Lucas Cyr kept the hot hand out at Murph's with a 722 series in the Christian Intramural. Cyr had games of 221, 266 and 235. Shelly Scott's big 245 game was high for the women. Those wondering about last week's youth scores, they are being published in today's edition.
