The high sheriff of Teton County rode herd on the bowling scores last week

Keith VanSetten, making a token appearance in the Elks’ Tuesday Nite Men’s League, reeled off games of 278, 235 and 221 for a big 734 set, which led the week.

VanSetten actually is the sheriff of Teton County and lives in Choteau, and uses bowling as a good getaway from dealing with criminals.

Over the years, VanSetten has been a regular with his partner Wayne Maurer in Little’s 40/90 Doubles each January and this year made the cut in the Over 40 Singles.

VanSetten’s high mark just edged Bernie K. Dickman, who had another big week.

Dickman, bowling in the Wednesday Business House League at Little’s, finished his night with an 11-in-row 289 game for a 722.

Dickman started the week with a 255 game and 702 set in the Satellite Mixed.

Steve Martin’s 715 series in the MixMasters, with consistent games of 232, 255 and 228 deserves a mention.

High for the women last week was Doris Kimmerle, who turned in a nice 673 series in Little’s Casino League. Kimmerle went 201, 205 and topped the night with a big 267 game.

In other scores, Donnie White churned out games of 214, 244 and 203 for a 661 set to lead the men at Pin & Cue. Nobi Sirucek’s 245 game and 627 serues in the Sunday Mixed was high for the women on the westside.

Murph’s turned in some high scores last week headed by Josh Calvert’s 716 series in the Wednesday Men. Calvert’s games were 223, 254 and 239. Also from the eastside, Jack Hawley went 257, 248 for a 700.

Shelly Scott was high for the women with games of 219 and 200.

There are new team leaders after the third week of the $2,000-added Budweiser Handicap Tournament at Lewistown’s Snowy Lanes.

The Strikers, with Ron and Jean Claver, Sherry Hodges, Bill Hodges and Tim Anthony, put together a 3,381 to take the top spot. The Great Falls-Lewistown team Dougheads II moved into second with a 3,334.

In the singles, Harlem’s Ival Jackson continues to lead with a six-game 1,448 total. Lewistown’s Carol Strander is a stick behind at 1,447.

The tourney runs two more weekends with an added 6:45 shift this Saturday. Phone Rex Coleman, 535-3473, for more information.

Don’t forget this Sunday, Little’s is bringing back the popular Over-Under 50 Handicap Tourney. One bowler must be over 50 and the other under. The tourney will have one shift time, 10 a.m. Phone Little’s, 452-4116, for more information.

Also, the Elks will be holding its final weekend of the Elks City Tournament. Phone the Elks, 454-1305, for more information.
