Wishing all bowlers a happy 2009

A new bowling year will be upon us shortly and here are a few kegling wishes for 2009:

  • To Rod Hackett and the gang at the Elks — for their 2009 wish list to be fulfilled so Lane 6 will soon be brand new.

  • To Mike Bowles, Fred Sadler and Al Pearsall — one more glorious shot at a perfect game.

  • To Jack Patton — to make the cut this weekend.

  • To Wayne Quinby — win the lottery and make that dream on 38th St. and 1st Ave. N. come true.

  • To Doris Kimmerle — double the entries in next year's Class 50s Ladies Classic.

  • To Dave Brastrup — the perfect back-up ball.

  • Dave Culliton — your name in the paper every week — hopefully in the bowling scores.

  • Pat Terry — more blood to give.

  • Donnie Zuhoski — happiness and one more 300.

  • To Charlie Sutej — a successful return to bowling

  • Bruce Steffani — a back that's strong.

  • And to everyone else — good health, great fun and time to get out and bowl.

  • Only four spots remain for this Sunday's Eagle Beverage 40/90 Doubles Classic at Little's Lanes, and it is not too late to grab a partner and reserve a spot.

So far, 28 duos have signed up for the tourney, which features six rounds of match play and a position round followed by a Baker-style stepladder final.

Entry fee per team is $160.

Phone Little's at 452-4116 to enter the tourney or to find out more information.

Also, the 40 & Over Singles Classic, set for Saturday, is still taking entries.

Five-game shifts are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with the top 24 making it into Saturday night's double elimination match play.

Entry fee for the singles is $85.

  • Lefties Plus One, with Nobi Sirucek, Kay Kinzinger, Rod Hackett and Duane Zeier, held on to capture the 2008 edition of the SnowBall No-Tap Tournament, held at the Elks.

The foursome's 3,372 held up for the last two weekends of the month long tourney as they grabbed the top prize.

Steve's Idea, with Dawn and Steve Vernon, Carol Tigart and Dorothy Vukasin, pocketed second-place money with a 3,297.

  • Many triplicates are often forgotten, but Bernie K. Dickman will soon not forget his.

Dickman, bowling in the Sunday Satellite Mixed at Little's, toss three consecutive 256 games for a huge 768 series.

Not only did Dickman earn a USBC award, the series was high for the holiday week.

For the women, Jackie Henry, bowling in the Tuesday Afternoon Trio at Little's, reeled off games of 219, 222 and 224 for a 665.

Henry's effort gets the nod over Doris Kimmerle, who put together a five-game 1,035 set, with a 247 game, in the Straight-A-Way PBA Experience last Friday at Little's.

At the Elks, Al Ridder earned men's honors with a 268 game and 726 series in the Tuesday Men.

Barb Baumgartner's 223 game and 618 series was high for the women.

Cheri Harlan led the women and Don White the men at Pin & Cue. Harlan had a 209 game and 569 series in the Monday 535; while Don White turned in a 255 game and 687 series in the Sunday Mixed.

A score of note from Black Eagle included a 692 set by Steve Quinby, which including games of 253 and 235.
